Newsetter:
ALL THINGS APPLE.
by Renee
Conrad.
Laughter, music and dancing seemed to
be all happening at once when CCAT hosted
the second annual ALL THINGS APPLE FESTIVAL.
For those of you who missed it we are
sorry you couldn't make it. What could
be better than the sounds of children's
voices as they engaged in the many activities
that were offered last October 10. This
was the first year that we were able to
get advertising on radio stations. Another
first was the wonderful music offered
by not only members of the Polkanomics
but our first strolling banjo player.
What fun to have live music for the cake
walk. This year we also had new stations
for children. Michiko Spring taught children
the ancient art of origami. Tina Dungan
made the most scary witches out of dried
apples with broomsticks black dresses
and witch hats. Mary Wilson showed off
her cornhusk dolls. We had a coloring
contest and of course our delicious apple
treats. Volunteers were outstanding both
from our art therapy community but also
from two high schools service cubs. What
fun to see face painting, the apple toss
and candy apples. |
We are still totaling up some
of the items and will have a final total
soon. However, it is clear we doubled our
profit from last year, and then some. It
is such a win/win event when those of us
who really thrive on service oriented events
can exoerience a high from all the affection
coming our way.
An old saying goes "my cup runneth
over." That
is exactly how I feel after our efforts
were rewarded in such an outstanding
way. Our sucesss is due almost single
handedly by the tireless work of Kayin
Noblin. The Board also gave us much
support as did everyone who came, who
participated by offering items for the
silent auction, or for the raffle, for
those who helped set up and clean up
and staff the stations,
THANK YOU. WE
PLAN TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT CHILDREN
REALLY ARE SUPPORTED IN SONOMA COUNTY.
WE WITNESSED IT.
